Anchoring Swings Before You Draw Fibs
Traders often drop Fibonacci tools on the first two wicks that look dramatic. In practice, the tool should follow a completed impulse: a directional move with clear higher highs or lower lows, not a noisy range. Before plotting 38.2 or 61.8, name the start and end of that impulse out loud.
A useful habit in our Taipei studio is to keep a provisional anchor and a confirmed anchor. Provisional anchors guide attention while the swing is still forming; confirmed anchors justify planning around a zone. If the high or low is later violated by a decisive close, redraw—do not defend yesterday’s grid.
None of this requires exotic indicators. It requires patience with incomplete swings and a willingness to erase levels that no longer describe structure. Fibonacci practice rewards the analyst who updates the map more than the one who worships a ratio.
